Sheridan asserted that Yellowstone hardly ever saw the light of day because of the skepticism of an unnamed HBO executive.
Sheridan eventually approached HBO with the idea of turning Yellowstone into a TV show.
Yellowstone was originally intended to be a movie. Former HBO executive Michael Lombardo loved the idea back then.
Lombardo said of the show, "I thought Taylor was the real deal," when asked about it.
