The death of Kamala Khan is one of the most contentious decisions in the already contentious The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) run,
but there is reason to believe that this entire gambit is a way to change Ms. Marvel's powers in the comics to better match her portrayal in the MCU. Rabin,
the villain who has recently terrorized Spider-Man, possesses odd capabilities that appear to distort reality;
the theory that follows is that Rabin was developed in this manner to explain why, when Kamala Khan returns, she will do so with dramatically different skills and abilities.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2022) #26, "One Shall Fall!" by Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr., Scott Hana, Marcio Menyz, and Erick Arciniega delivers on its title.
When the wicked Emissary aka Rabin reappears in a whirlwind to threaten Mary Jane Watson (whom he believes he must kill in order to fulfill a prophecy of great power),
Spider-Man rallies his allies to stop him. While Norman Osborne and the Fantastic Four deal with Rabin's summoned monster,
Kamala is tasked with protecting Mary Jane, which she accomplishes by acting as MJ's body double.
