During an interview with Fox News anchor Sean Hannity that aired Monday, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom
defended President Joe Biden's record in office and indicated he would not fight him for the nomination.
"I'm rooting for our president and have great confidence in his leadership," he stated.
Newsom did not explicitly respond to Hannity's question about if his phone rings with people urging him to run for president, but he did say Biden "is a man of decency and character."
Newsom did remark that his phone is always ringing with individuals who are impressed with Biden's work on foreign affairs,
increasing the debt ceiling, and passing bipartisan legislation such as the CHIPS and Science Act and the infrastructure measure he signed into law.
"I don't believe he's capable; I know he's capable because I see results." "The last few years have been a master class in results,"
Newsom said of Biden's record. "I have conversations with him all the time," Newsom replied when asked if Biden was cognitively capable of being president. Yes.”
