Sera Gamble told IndieWire in February about her role in "Wednesday," saying,
"We wanted to bring Ellie back [in season 4], but we heard, 'Oh, Jenna's doing a show.'"
Seeing Jenna this year has been a real treat. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to return, the showrunner told the site.
